In maths this week, we will be starting our new unit on shape. We will be recognising angles as a property of shape or as a description of a turn. We will also be identifying right angles and recognising that two right angles make a half turn, three make three quarters of a turn and four a complete turn.

Finally, we will be identifying horizontal, vertical, perpendicular and parallel lines.

In maths this week, we will be continuing our unit on time. We will be continuing to read the time to the nearest minute using an analogue clock. We will also be using the terminology ‘morning’, ‘afternoon’, ‘a.m.’ and ‘p.m.’ to describe the time of day. We will then be learning to tell the time on a 24-hour digital clock.

In maths this week, we will be continuing our unit on time. We will be learning to read and draw the times ‘quarter to’ and ‘quarter past’. We will also be learning to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes on an analogue clock. Once we are confident with telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes, we will be learning to tell the time to the nearest minute. As part of the National Curriculum, you need to be able to tell the time on an analogue and digital clock. Any extra practise at home would be fantastic!

In maths this week, we will be finishing our unit on fractions. We will be adding and subtracting fractions. We will then be starting our new maths unit focusing on time. We will be recognising the number of days in each month, year and leap year. We will also be learning to tell the time to the hour and half past the hour. A non-unit fraction is a fraction where the numerator is greater than 1. We will also be looking at the equivalent fractions one half and two quarters.

In Maths this week, we will be continuing our multiplication and division unit. We will be looking at the relationship between the 2, 4 and 8 times tables. We will also use our knowledge of multiplication and division facts to compare statements using equality symbols. Finally, we will use known multiplication facts to solve other multiplication problems.

We will be sending home another multiplication and division booklet to support you in practising what you have been learning about in class.
