School Meals

Our school meals are provided by RADISH

Meals are pre-ordered via the School Gateway Meal Manager with a cut off time of Friday the week before. You will be able to order up to 3 weeks in advance

They deliver exciting menus that provide children with a well-balanced meal that meets, or where possible exceeds the required nutritional standards necessary for good health.

Meals are cooked on-site daily and cost £2.80

In addition to their standard menus, they work with us to tailor individual menus based on the feedback from students, parents and teachers.

They offer a three-week menu cycle incorporating a ’homemade style’ of cooking using fresh ingredients from local suppliers.

They have the option of supplementing the menu everyday with freshly baked bread, a self-service salad bar and a selection of freshly prepared fruit pieces. Occasionally, it may be necessary to change menu items. This is sometimes necessary due to severe weather problems or product availability but rest assured that they never compromise on ingredient quality. Also look out for Fun and Theme Days with menus celebrating special events.

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)

Since September 2014, all pupils in Reception class, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal.

Please note that while the meals are provided free of charge, they are only cooked to order and it is therefore necessary for pupils or their parents and carers to place orders.

Free School Meals

Pupils whose families have low income are entitled to free school meals regardless of their age. Eligibility can be checked and applications made on the West Berkshire website (Click here to access) and registration is very easy, quick, and confidential. Please feel free to come and discuss Free School Meals with the Office if you have any query.

It is very important that, even if pupils are entitled to the Universal Infants Free School, parents and carers who are on a low income apply for Free School Meal as this triggers the Pupil Premium Grant which allows the school to support pupils and their families. This can be specialist interventions to support a child’s progress or emotional development, or it can be financial support to allow a child to access school trips and after school activities (whether in school or outside school).

Please note that while the meals are provided free of charge, they are only cooked to order and it is therefore necessary for pupils or their parents and carers to place orders.
